Always call the midwife:
- if your waters have broken
- if your contractions are 3 to 4 minutes apart and this is your first baby
- if your contractions are 5 minutes apart and this is your second or a later baby
- if you are bleeding more heavily than during a normal period
- if you have a temperature of 38 °C or higher
- if you are worried
